Deborah Hamilton LSW-c
MSW Student Representative
As both a Child Protective Services Caseworker and a therapeutic foster parent, Deborah is passionate about child welfare policy. She was awarded a B.A. in Criminology in 1994 from the University of Southern Maine. In addition to supporting children, she is an outspoken advocate for asylum seekers, seniors, and the disabled. Working within the DHHS system as an employee and helping others navigate its complexities as a social worker, has afforded her a unique perspective.
Her particular interests include streamlining current social systems like DHHS, ensuring all Mainer’s have access to affordable healthcare, guaranteeing that seniors and the disabled have universal home care and increasing the retention rate of qualified Child Protective Services Caseworkers.
Deborah is currently a concentration year student at the University of Southern Maine’s MSW program and will be graduating spring 2019. She was most recently employed as a Human Services Caseworker at Maine’s Department of Health and Human Services.”
